Greg represented South Africa as a striker from 1994 to 2004 in 200 test matches accumulating 245 test goals in the process. This record puts him 3rd on the all time list of goal scorers in the history of the sport. He played in both the Atlanta 1996 and Athens 2004 Olympic games and in Atlanta was the top goal scorer of the tournament. Turning to coaching in 2004, Greg has worked as a specialist coach for the South African Men's team as well as working during 2006 as a consultant to both the England and Belgian Associations. Part of his role within New Zealand Hockey is as the Blacksticks Men's Assistant Coach, continuing a link that the Academy has with the NZ Hockey programme.
Caryn Paewai Assistant Coach
Caryn represented New Zealand as a right half between 1999 and 2005. During this time she competed in the Sydney Olympic games in 2000, the World Cup and Commonwealth Games in 2002 as well as the Champions Trophy in 1999, 2001 and 2002. Caryn has recently made a welcome return to international hockey under new National coach Kevin Towns, who has also moved her into the midfield and forward line. Another highlight of her career was being named Women's MVP after the 2005 NHL. To date Caryn has earned 121 test caps for New Zealand. On the coaching front Caryn has been a Regional Development Manager in Palmerston North and has coached numerous teams over the years including a Premier Men's team in Dunedin, the Wellington U18 Girls team and has played/coached the Hawke's Bay Women's hockey team in 2004 who won the Senior Womens' National Tournament (Floyd Shield). Her position at the Kelt Capital Hockey Academy also includes a Regional Development Manager role for Hawke's Bay Hockey allowing for a close link between the association and us.
